Subject: blockage kid

Just for the sake of warning others:

The enclosed pics are of a ferret (Meeko) who was obviously adrenal. She also
was vomiting and had diarrhea. I was extremely concerned about her possibly
having a partial blockage, but due to her condition, she was not a surgical
candidate and we had to wait.

She was diagnosed with Coccidia and put on albon for 10 days. Her diarrhea
cleared up but she still would not gain any weight (she was no more than
480g). We finally got her stable and strong enough for surgery and what did
the vet find - not only a left adrenal, but a foreign body in her stomach!

It appears to be a piece of silicone. To put the size in perspective, this
piece of silicone is almost as large as Meeko's head. And yet she still was
able to eat and pass material into her digestive tract. A very lucky shelter
ferret.
