Ditto on not being a vet.
Do know that with humans Carafate is often required 15 to 20 minutes before a meal to reduce injury and promote healing.
One trick with Carafate when you add water is that it breaks down more easily if it is NOT crushed first, and when using segments if you put the uncut side into the water it will work better.
