We've had three over the years with cardiomyopathy -- each very
different from the others. One had dilative cardiomyopathy with
ventricular bigemini (and some tri-gemini) and instead of
dropping dead within days she went something like a year to a
year and a half, and for her the single most important med right
from the start was Digoxin which controlled her rhythm. The
second had ascites even before she showed as clearly having
cardiomyopathy plus she had a heart tumor and other problems.
For her the single most important med was probably her Lasix
for at part of her illness. The third had hypertrophic
cardiomyopathy and even developed peripheral edema toward
the end, with no one med making a huge individual difference.
All were on a cocktail of meds and that really paid off for them in
a huge way. Each individual is different so what is best for any
given one -- and at any given stage of the cardiomyopathy -- can
be different; that's why careful testing is so helpful. Sometimes
there is clearly a more helpful med, and sometimes not
depending on the ferret, from our experience.
