Subject: Re: Ferret with enlarged heart!

I never heard any more about Dr. Burke's study, but I often repeat
his "enlarged" hearts in older ferrets is a common finding
statement. When Duncan was due for adrenal surgery and my vet was
worried about his "large" heart, we had Dr. Burke come in and do an
ultrasound.

He told me that he saw absolutely noting in Duncan that would present
a risk during surgery (and he did come through with flying colors).
He mentioned that seemingly enlarged hearts, particularly in older,
male ferrets, was not that uncommon.

I'll have to ask Dr. Pane if he has any info on the study that Dr.
Burke did.
