Subject: [Ferret-Health-list] Hair loss - not adrenal??

Hi Kim,
It may be due to stress or assuming one adrenal gland was
removed if can be that the other one is over producing
hormones. Or perhaps all of the “bad” adrenal gland was not
fully removed. The Tenn. Panel can confirm adrenal disease if
you wish to be sure.

Hi,

I had 2 ferrets showing signs of insulinoma and
visited the vet last week where the diagnosis was
confirmed.

One of them has also been showing some signs of
adrenal - some hair loss. But it does not seem to be
spreading and it even seems that it might be
regrowing. He did not lose enough to think this is
coat blowing or to be sure that it is adrenal. (I got
him right after an adrenal surgery and he was about as
bald as he could be! But all his hair grew back in).

He has no allergies, there've been no food changes,
there have been some housing changes (moved to a
different cage with his usual and several additional
cagemates). Could he have lost hair due to stress
from the cage-switching?

Anything else that might have made him lose the hair?

Thank you!

Kim
