Ultrasounds were absolutely essential.

For Meltie after her rhythm problems were first found by
stethoscope regular EKGs became part of her norm.

Ruffle's heart tumor wasn't found till after her death. In her case
her cardiomyopathy actually produced ascites before her
cardiomyopathy was clearly diagnosible -- something that
changed with time.

Ultrasounds are treasures when there is cardiomyopathy of any
type.

Oh, 'Choppie (Organic Helicopter) had hypertrophic
cardiomyopathy which can be hard to find before the late stages
and even death. If memory serves (and if this headache hasn't
gotten me mis-remembering things) she kept losing weight no
matter how much she was eating and her energy level changed,
and we just had them pull out all stops and check everything.
They didn't think that was causing the weight loss, but once her
heart was treated the weight loss stopped. Since then I have
heard from three or four people who also had ones inexplicably
loosing weight and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy was found.
Think that you had one, didn't you, Troy Lynn?
