Subject: Sick Ferret
I have a sick ferret. He is about 7 years old and I think he is
suffering from a cold...trouble breathing,sluggishness, and sleeping
alot.He eats and drinks well, but maybe he is just gettting older?
Also, we recently had 2 ferrets die since the beginning of the
year. One was an albino we bought as a juvenile so his age we didn't
know and the other was a 4 year old sable that seemed plump and
healthy and active, until 2 days after the albino passed, he passed as
well. The albino was very thin for almost 2 years and lost control of
his back legs and had very little energy. The sable was active but had
an infatuation with drinking the albino's urine.I was unable to take
them to a vet near me due to lack of money, but I would like to know
if anyone can maybe think of what happened to them so I can put
myself at rest.I recently had given them new food(Purina One) and
they seemed to eat it ok, but not as well as what they had before. Our
remaining ferret seems to be doing ok as I was worried about
distemper possibly in the two other ferrets. Is it possible that the
new food had something to do with there death?I changed the food back
to the old stuff for our last ferret in fear of that is what had
killed the others. And is it possible that ferrets can die of being
too cold?
