Subject: Cosequin/Adequan etc.
My dog was on Cosequin for awhile and it didn't seem to be working.
He said some dogs (so some animals) don't digest/metabolize some things when
taken orally
as well as other animals and recommended Adequan as its an injection.
It wasn't miraculous but I think long term Adequan has helped keep him
mobile
longer than he would have been (he has arthritis associated with hip
dysplasia).
It could be I didn't give Cosequin long enough to work - I think these
things sometimes
take longer than we might expect given the claims of some but I think the
injection just worked better for him.
While Adequan protocol is something like a 6-8 week deal and then apparently
never
again - I take my dog in for "booster" shots every 3-4 months.
Apparently the stuff can help, doesn't always, but doesnt hurt either - it
just becomes a waste of money.
I was willing to throw some money at the dog in the hopes to keep him mobile
longer.
It will only work on problems associated with arthritis of joint's/spinal
column - as someone
mentioned it helps rejuvenute the fluid in the ummm drawing a blank here:)
cushiony things between the joints:)!
Yikes.
If you could get the company to recommend an Adequan doseage I'd go for it.
