I posted yesterday about Cedes' anemia (message
#9960). Dr. Williams responded (message #9982)
and said I was missing the needed information.
So, I called my vet and asked him to explain
things to me. I told him that I had his office
fax the info to me and I wanted to understand it.
He said the same thing that Dr. Williams said (not
that I ever doubted Dr. W)....I am missing the
second page!! He said that Cedes' Packed Cell
Volume (PCV) was 27 and his Hemoglobin was 9.9.
That's how he diagnosed the anemia.
I decided to go ahead and take Cedes back in
tomorrow for further tests. For the last three
days he has gone immediately to his hidey-hole and
gone back to sleep when I let them out of the
cage. He most definitely is not feeling well.
Doc said he will spin some blood just to confirm
the readings and then run tests to determine the
cause of the anemia. It sounded like he will have
to send the blood out so I may have to wait a few
days.
I'll post when I have more information.
