Our little River stopped eating almost 2 weeks ago. He was very weak. He hi=
des his food before he eats it, so it may have been a gradual decrease that=
we did not notice immediately. A visit to the vet with xrays, blood work a=
nd physical exam resulted in very little evidence of anything wrong. One of=
his liver enzymes was elevated, so he was given amoxicillin & metronidazol=
e for a possible liver infection, sulcafate and Hills zd to add to his "duc=
k soup" made with his mushed up ferret kibble. He is still on this soupy mi=
xture, will not eat anything else and drinks a small amount of water. He ge=
ts quite a bit of liquid from the "soup". He is a bit stronger now, but his=
stools are very shinny, sometimes seedy and he rolls his tougne around in =
his mouth a lot. He did this a bit before we noticed he wasn't eating. He i=
s more sleepy than normal. Does he have an food allergy or perhaps an intes=
tinal problem not a liver problem? Any ideas would be appreciated. Our vet =
is not very familiar with ferrets. =
