Hi Tanja,
I think what you are calling leucosis is what
we call lymphoma (and sometimes lymphosarcoma)
here in America. Juvenile lymphoma is often fatal regardless
of what we try to do treatment wise. We usually try pred
("cortisone") to try to reduce the size of the lymph nodes and
to perk up the ferret. Chemotherapy can also be tried.
I have not heard of vets giving the feline leukemia vaccine as
a treatment for ferret lymphoma. There is speculation and some
evidence to suggest a ferret retrovirus as the cause of lymphoma,
but I do not know if the cat vaccine would help a ferret who
already has lymphoma. (I do not know if it would do any good as
a preventative either.) Dr Fox's book (Biology and diseases of
the ferret) and Drs. Hillyer and Quesenberry's book (Ferrets, Rabbits,
and Rodents: Clinical Medicine and Surgery) both have a lot about
lymphoma and treatment options.
Hope that helps,

Hi Lisette,
Since surgery is not an option then you are limited
to medical treatment. Thus Lupron should be tried. The
other option is melatonin (with or without the Lupron).
Hope that helps,
