Just a quick side note; while there are some individual ferrets on each ex=
treme which go against this, I have noticed over my 17(?) years on-line in =
the ferret community something which I think which predicts good longevity:=
providing enough vet care. Too many folks still try to save money by igno=
ring possible medical problems and accidently shorten ferrets' lives that w=
ay. (Of course, for me even one person doing that is too many.)
(Meanwhile, here at home where the level of vet care is a controlled factor=
the level of muscularity has been a very good predictor of good longevity.=
That may just be partly because those who arrive with the worst problems =
aren't able to be as active, but I personally suspect that there is somethi=
ng to be said for avoiding actual obesity and sarcopenia (poor muscle level=
s and poor muscle tone) in ferrets.) =
