Dr. Williams,
I have read all of your past post's about ECE and have followed your advice. It is not working as well as it should.
Here are the particulars. Sam is female, albino, 5yr/4mo old, 1 lb/7.5 oz (at start), no health problems in past.
Purchased Max 8wks old and she had no signs of ECE. Sam was infected and symptoms developed on 01Dec2002 in Sam. Max must be a carrier, she is in excellent health.
Sam has loss 36% BW and is 13.75 oz (today). Complete symptom range. Entering week five and no progress. Feeding at 2-3 hour intervals 24/7 with water 60cc plus /day, and chicken baby food with pedilite. Supplment with 2cc Nurti-Cal and 1cc Ferretone daily. Until today, I also was grinding and adding a fine power of her kibble (8-1 Advance). Stopped this since it may be causing IBD. Sam will not eat or drink on own. Symptoms of stools varies to black tar, brown seed, diarrea, and foul odor. Please advise next step.
Also, you stated that the virus has not been isolated for a vaccine. Why can not the host carrier be used as a base for a serum?
Whould getting an IV sub-cutaneous infusion help? What fluid medium is used and how much and drip rate? Where can I get supplies to do this at home? Can you provide supplies or write a prescription?
Thank you very much for you time. Best Wishes, Gene Weber.
