Hello all,
long time reader, first time posting. I have a 5 yr. old female MF sable. =
Last summer she was diagnosed with insulinoma and have opted to skip the s=
urgery option and try the medication approach which seems to be working for=
us *knock on wood*. (We are fortunate to live in a University town with a =
vet school so we have access to great care and consider myself lucky.) Fro=
m the many ultrasounds done it was found that she has a remnant ovary, whic=
h is probably the cause of her hair loss on her butt and slightly swollen v=
ulva and that she never grew hair back from where the ultrasound was. The =
vet said it was not her adrenal glands causing the hair loss. Now with thi=
s bit of history, my question is that my ferret has been extremely interest=
ed in licking my face lately. I would say it has increased significantly t=
he past 3 months. She goes so far as to lick inside my nostrils, ears, eye=
s (yes we are very close). Is this a salt deficiency or what? I always t=
hought it was kind of cute and called it kisses but now its extreme. She l=
ikes to lick feet and arms too. Any input on this behavior would be great =
so that I could understand her better. Thanks in advance! =
