I've been thinking quite a bit about part of what you said and I don't think that you should be leery of seeking help from the vet with whom you two felt comfortable. Vets are as human as any of hte rest of us, and they make mistakes or get fooled by animals at times. I can't imagine anyone being a good vet and not knowing that, can't imagine how a vet could survive emotionally without accepting that we are all only human.

I can't tell you how many times I've had to call our vets and say, "Hey, such and such ferret has given us all a surprise and we need your help." It happens.

Anohter thing I can't think of is any vet here who hasn't at some point shown those simple human attributes of not being perfect and of always learning. I think that the best way to give the vet a chance is share what has happened so that the vet can add to the existing data base on this individual and find the best way to get a full enough picture to help the little fuzzie.
