I know that at one point Pam Troutman was collecting information in a
sort of informal study. She contacted everyone in the STAR database
each year for several years asking various questions relating to health
matters. I never saw the actual data, but several people who have have
commented to me that it did indicate a higher incidence of health
problems like insulinoma, adrenal disease, etc. occurred at an earlier
age in ferrets that were altered before sexual maturity.
I don't know if Pam is on this list, but if she is and still has the data,
perhaps she would share some of the trends that were reported with us.
