I finally spoke with the vet who said when taking the blood, the "green cap" tube can alter the results. I am not sure how much of that is true, but I spoke to my specialist who said whether her glucose was 12 or 31 - it's a dangerously low number.
He also said if she doesn't come out of this within a few days, assuming that her glucose is normal, then he would assume there is a possiblity of brain damage from the serverity of the seizures and this might be all she is capable of. He aslo suggested I administer proglycem along with the prednisone.
I am praying the following is correct:
2 times a day I give her the prednisone (.2cc's of 5ml/mg) with food along with her amoxi-drops (.3cc's)
Other than those 2 times, I will give her pepto (she takes that easily, no problem, I use a small syring and administer it by mouth quickly) About 10-15 later I give her Carafate and 15 minutes later I give her baby food. at this point I do not know how much Proglycem or how much Carafate because I do not have the Rx. I hope this new vet doesn't mind writing me a script for the Proglycem - seeing as how my other vet, who knows the ferret is suggesting it.
LAST Question (for now) ***Is there any reason why I shouldn't assume for the next day or 2 that her glucose is up to normal if I am feeding her constantly and giving her prednisone?*** I don't want to bring her back for a another blood test right now - I think it would be too stressful. Someone mentioned that giving sugar along with the prednisone is OK and I have given her a drop of karo syrup - which didn't help. THANK YOU.
