If the vet is not one who likes to learn then this vet is not the best option. I fhte vet is a good surgeon and love s to learn then I'd be inclined toward adding some step-by-step references for her: the video tapes covering how to do the procedures by Dr. Charles Weiss (Bradley Hills) or by Dr. Deborah Kemmerer (Westend). Here are the URLs:
http://www.bradleyhills.com/ferret (alternate link
http://www.ferretdoctor.com/ferret)
and
http://www.westendanimal.com

I also would look into Dr. Karen Purcell's text since it does a lot of step-by-step explaining which could be useful for a novel surgery for a vet. It is published by AAHA: 1-800-252-2242

Be sure the vet takes into account important things like using an easily removed anesthesia (like Iso), keeps the ferret safely warm enough, has Florinef of Procorten and Pred around in case both need to come out or in case one is athrophied, etc.

It may be that your vet is not comfortable with this surgery if she or he hasn't done one before and may even prefer to not learn on your little one if that is the case, but the only way to know the vet's experience and feelings is to discuss them. None of us can know abojut this from a distance.

We've never lost one to adrenal surgery.
