My almost 5 yo female fuzzie Shilo had her left adrenal gland out 2 years
ago, the right one was ok at that time. We've had her on Lysodren since then
with good results. About 10 days ago I thought her fur looked a bit thin on
her tummy, and yesterday the tip of her tail was thin too. She's also lost
some weight. This morning she really looked terrible and seemed really shaky
(not just the usual ferret 'trembling'), and was really cold. So off to the
vet we went.
She had a small amount of blood in her urine so we started Clavimox. Blood
sugar was 59, so we're thinking she might now be showing beginning signs of
insulinoma. She's not really showing signs of hind end weakness, but she
seems to be staggering a bit when she walks. So we've started prednisone
1.25 mg daily. Her liver and kidney enzymes were both a bit low. The Vet
said that was typical for her. Xray of abdomen & chest was clear.
