I am sorry for the loss. My only thought is that some
information is missing. Did you bring the ferret for
a medical problems and was a blood test discussed?
When you paid the bill were you charged for blood work?

First decide what it is you want from this. Do you want
an explanation, an apology, money, the vet's license?
Then I would go to the office and speak to the vet, the staff
and bring the autopsy copy, copy of your bill from your office
visit, the autopsy bill. I would have a clear plan in my mind as
to what I want to accomplish.
I would even suggest asking for reimbursement for autopsy done,
and the visit to the vet in the first place.

But, you original question was if a heart stick was done to get blood.
And the answer is yes it can be, but I would certainly want to know if
this
was going to be done and why and be made aware of possible
complications. This is the part I think that is key, it seems you were
not informed a procedure was being done on your pet.
