I decided to stop monopolizing the board - but wanted to mention one last thing. I spoke to my ferret vet today from a few years ago (same office as new vet). She gave me a bit more information and direction. She phoned in a Rx for Proglycem (it won't be in till Monday) .1cc to be taken twice a day and to stay at the same amount of Prednisolone .35cc (of 5ml/mg) twice a day. She told me to stop checking the glucose and to call her with a glucose result after she's been on the Proglycem for a full week. Then she will know if something has to be increased.
She said the two work well together and she said it was safer for the ferret to be on the 2 meds, rather than upping her Pred. She also told me to stop all sugars, including ferretvite since in might increase insulin production and lower her glucose. With that said I will be "sitting tight" feeding Melissa like I've been (about every 3 hours) and praying! ():)
I am a bit concerned about all of the meds she's on:
Pepto, Carafate, Ammoxi-drops, Prednisolone and soon Proglycem. (The Pepto and Carafate are for her stomach and are given 3 times a day - but not at the meals the ammoxi-drops & Pred. are given)
Thanks everyone. Lisa & Melissa
