Hi everyone. Melissa hasn't changed a bit. She sleeps a lot, but nothing out of the ordinary. Her cage is boring (I have her in a one level, rabbit cage now) and she lost her cage mate of 7 years, a couple of months ago so she has been depressed.
She is wobbly when she walks around and has difficulty walking at times. She can only get around on carpeting and towels.
As soon as she smells food (gerber chicken baby food) she wakes up immediately. She has the desire to come out. After I feed her she is a lot more alert and even attemps to climb out of her cage!
According to my glucose monitor, almost 3 hours after she has eaten her glucose ranges anywhere from "LOW!" to 28! I don't like to test her because it hurts but I wanted to make sure it went up at all, so I tested once right after she had some karo & water was it 118.
I am only stating the above because some people say she cannot be alive with her glucose level - which puzzles me! She is and doing OK.
I have increased the pred to .4cc 5mg/ml and am picking up the Proglycem in a little while (as soon as it comes in). Hopefully I will see an improvement in a couple of days. I also called another vet (I found here on the archives), to go over the possibility of surgery as well as all of her medications. I hate starting all over again, I would like to give the other vets a chance but if I don't see an improvement I am afraid I will run out of time. (Also sleeping in 2 hour blocks through out the day is killing me!)
Thanks ~ Lisa & Melissa
