Subject: Enlarged spleen question

Hi,

I have a male neutered MF albino, aproximately 5 years
old with an enlarged spleen. It is pretty big, you
can actually palpate behind it.

My vet says that most enlarged spleens are benign
unless the lymph nodes are involved and she does not
want to remove it. I understand and accept her
reasoning.

My question is: If the spleen is left alone, what is
the likelihood that it will burst? I don't want to
lose my guy to something which can be prevented
surgically. If folks here think that not very likely,
I won't worry. If you think it's a good possibility,
I'll talk to my vet again.

Thank you very much,

Kim
