What is the ideal temperature range for post op care?
This depends on how the ferret is doing. Usually will need
a heating pad if it is a long surgery or if the ferret's temperature
drops below normal. This is usually just for a short time such
as the first couple of hours. After that most are alert and able to
maintain their normal temperature with just towels or blankets
to hide in. If they are still hypothermic after a few hours, then a
heating pad under several layers of towels or blankets may be needed
untill their temperature returns to normal. You have to monitor the heating
pad and the ferret, so it does not overheat or get thermal burns.
Hope that helps,
