Subject: Diabetes in Ferrets, just diagnose.

Hello,
One of our ferrets (we have 4) have just been diagnosed with diabetes by our vet in Denmark. It should be noted that ferrets are rare in Denmark, so their experiens on the subject is rather limited, but they did blood tests and came to this conclusion.
We asked for the blood test, because he is drinking a lot of water and was born with cataracts (he is probably blind or at least very limited sight). He was born on the 26 of may 2002, so he is a rather young ferret.
He is currently a very happy ferret, who runs around making happy sounds all the time.
We want to know what to do now, we have to told that he should be on a special diet (Prescription Diet - Feline w/d), and that we must gie him daily injections, however we are not sure yet, what we have to give him. We have another appointment with the vets this week to discusse this.
Hopefully somebody in here might have some correctings or comments to this, as we like our vets, but is also aware of their limited experiens with ferrets. So any advice or suggestions is very welcome.
Hilsen
David, Vivian and Damien
