Our little Leo (whom I have written about before) has an auto-immune disease and is on a pretty heavy dose of Prednisolone (.35ml twice a day, 5mg/ml strength) to keep it in check. We are slowly working to reduce that down to the minimum effective dose he needs. The problem is that he has been getting thin fur over his shoulders and on his tail and losing fur on his toes, back feet, nose and a couple spots on his tummy. Plus the big bare bare spot on his hindquarters where he was shaved last May for his bone marrow biopsy has never grown back. Oh, Leo is now 13 months old.

The vet thinks it could be a side effect of the high Pred dose. Leo has been checked for adrenal and the doctor doesn't think that is what is going on. Because of the medicine Leo could not have any sort of surgery anyways. We are trying Zinc to see if that will get him to grow fur, but so far it doesn't seem to be helping. If anyone has any other fur-growing remedies I would like to hear about them so I can run them past the doctor and see what would be safe to give Leo. We have to be careful to not compromise the effectivness of the Pred, because I don't think he would survive another crash.

Thanks!
