I have a 4 year old neutered jill, Gremlin, who's always been healthy.
Saturday morning I found her weak and lethargic and she couldn't stand on
her legs, she was too weak. Took her to the vets and she had a high
temperature, 106 degrees F. A big animal vet was doing the small animal
surgery and gave Gremlin Ketoprofen and Synulox. At night, Gremlin was
feeling better and even had a little run around when her group was out.
This morning (Sunday) she was worse than yesterday. She was almost
convulsing, it was like her body went into a light spasm. Again she was
unable to stand. She took food fine though and then I held her in the
toilet and she went so her bowel and bladder work fine. I took her to a
different vet today as my vets only had big animal vets on for emergency and
those were too busy so I took Gremlin to a different vet, her temperature
was 106 F again, and the vet gave her Rimadyl (I asked for it because it
worked well for my Jack in the past) and Baytril. Now we'll just have to
wait and see. But what could cause a high temperature? She is in a group
with another 4 ferrets and those are all well. Gremlin makes little noises,
I don't know where they're coming from, throat or nose. Do they get high
temperatures with colds? Do they generally not tolerate high temperatures
well? She looks very ill...
