HI. I am new to the ferret health list. My 1.5 yr old MF ferret developed r=
unny stools about 5 days ago. I have 3 ferrets, and they all had loose stoo=
ls, at least I wasn't finding any normal ones. They all slept alot for a co=
uple days, and then the other 2 (who are 2 months and 4 months) seemed fine=
. Harry acted fine until Sunday. Then he developed green, watery, bird seed=
diarrhea. He threw up one time that I saw. He wouldn't eat, so I force fed=
him and gave him water about 5 times that day. Monday, yesterday, he seeme=
d so much better. No diarrhea, and he willingly ate the duck soup and even =
a couple kibbles on his own. Today he still ate duck soup and had no diarrh=
ea, but was very lethargic. I took him to the vet, and she said he has ECE.=
I have never had experience with it. Is there no test to diagnose it bette=
r than symptoms? Also, I read on MiamiHeath that "These symptoms usually ap=
pear within 48 hours of introducing a new ferret into the household." I do =
have a new ferret, but have had her over a month now. She was a tiny MF fer=
ret that had no business being in a pet shop she was so tiny. Any help woul=
d be appreciated. Harry is a real special guy whose favorite thing is for m=
e to carry him around in my arm while he lays on his back. He isn't interes=
ted in that right now. THanks.
