Subject: biopsy for intestinal problem?
Message-ID: <13742418.1044805369922.JavaMail.root@scandium>
Previous message explained Lenny's picky food habits and diarrhea. Took him=
to vet and he lost approx 300grams and she took a blood test. He is on am=
oxi and flagyl 2x's a day for 2 weeks and we returned him to eating Eukanub=
a low residue formula. When we came home I gave him medicine and the food a=
nd he ate for 15 minutes, ate again that night and again his bowl was half =
empty in the morning. I could tell he had gained the weight back, he is us=
ually 3 1/2 lbs of lean and long muscle. His stool was perfect, that is for=
just about 3 or 4 days. Blood test results came back normal in all respec=
ts but now once again his stool is loose and somewhat seedy although it doe=
sn't smell as bad as it had. It is not as liquidy as it had been either but=
still not good. He still only eats the Eukanuba. I have pretty much given=
up on giving him the flagyl, he foams at the mouth and drools and spits it=
out. I can no longer scruff him, he fights the whole time. My problem is=
my vet suggested a biopsy of his intestine if he doesn't get better to che=
ck for possible cancer. I would hate to have him undergo surgery if there =
is another alternative. Any ideas on what possible other treatments or diag=
nosis there is out there.
Thanks Roseann
