Prednisolone is the form of the steriod that the body actually uses,
and is what prednisone becomes after the liver processes it. They can
be used pretty much interchangeably, except in patients with
compromised liver function. In that case you want to use the
prednisolone form to avoid placing extra stress on the liver.
Other than that, the only real practical difference is cost and
availability. Go with whichever one you can get most readily.
