It may also have been swollen bu tis not swollen any more. Possible cause could be a play fight injury, or a baby tooth that was entrapped and caused swelling but has since dislodged.
I should have thought of the tooth thing earlier. We had one with that problem; a decidous canine got entrapped between two permanent teeth but when we got it out her problem cleared up well. I cna't recall if she also had antibiotics.
