That SHOULD read:
"I'd get him to the vet immediately and expect surgery on an emergency basis AS possibly being needed." Sorry. Sure does change the meaning to write it properly...
(That was just plain carelessness on my part and has nothing to do with us having to pop of some malfunctioning keys today and remove any debris under them.)
