Hi Everyone,
Yesterday we went on a hunt to find a new baby to bring home. We finally found what we were looking for at a Pet Store that I normally do not do business with. But since we were looking for a special baby we were checking every where.
He's a boy and his name is Paisley. He weights 2 lbs and he is 16 weeks old. He is very loving and very playful. He is a blaze, he is deaf.
The women at the Pet Shop told us that he bites. We have yet to see that. He loves to be held but he does have his problems.
We do have other ferrets and we have had blazes before and deaf ferrets before.
His problem is more physical. At this Pet Store they keep their ferrets in little containers that you usally see hampsters in. A ruff guess at the size of this container would be 18 to 24" long, about 12" wide, 6"tall. Now the top cruves down to put food on for the hampters.
The ferret has been feet in this container for at least 2 months.
A very important time of their developement age. I do not believe they are taken out to much.
I am finding he seems to have very little muscles developement. He can not pull himself up or maybe he just does not know how. His back feet slip all over the bottom of the cage when he trys to get himself up on the shelve. We brought him home in a box and we did not think much of it at the time but he would not jump out of the box. I am sure not because he couldn't. It was hard to tell with all his excitement. He is very excited and very happy. There is just so much he does not know about.
Does anyone have any ideas on how I can help this little guy? He seems just fine and these handi-caps do not seem to bother him. Maybe in time they will when he realizes that the other ferrets can do things he can not. Right now he is just very very happy. Happy to be playing and running and jumping around on the floor. He just loves to cuddles also.
Thanks
Donna
