Monty is a 4 year old foster who has been with us for two months. Last wee=
k we awoke one night to hear the sound of retching. On checking, we saw he=
was in the litter box straining to go and retching at the same time. We g=
ot up and gave him some hairball tonic. Next morning we saw him poop but it=
was very tiny, thin, greeny and mucousy. We put him in a separate cage and=
watched for poops. He pooped, and it was very mucousy and somewhat green. =
In the evening we fed him some A/D, 2x 6ml and by late evening he gave us =
an A/D poop. Color Ok but still small. He was given subQ fluids and left =
for the night. Next morning he went to the vet. Our concern was a blockag=
e, but, because he was still passing some stools and he never did vomit any=
thing up, the vet ruled out a full blockage but said it could be a partial =
which would probably work it's way out. He was kept for the day in the clin=
ic with more sub-Q fluids and no signs of real illness noted. He was sent h=
ome with a prescription of 0.3 ml TID sulcrafate. He was syringe fed moder=
ate amounts of A/D and also took some treats, kitten food. Seemed to be get=
ting better with small but reasonable poops. he was also moved back to the =
main cage with his two buddies.
Two days later at 4 am he woke us again with a hacking cough that appeared =
to go away when he was given some hairball tonic. =

He repeated this again next night. He is still getting A/D along with what=
ever he eats himself. =

The cough really sounds to be in his throat, we listened to his chest but h=
eard nothing.
Any one out there who can shed any light on what may be happening here.
