My 6.5year old ferret recently had a mast cell tumor removed from under his arm. This was done last Friday. By Monday it was clearly infected, so back to the vet we went. His wound was opened up and flushed out and he was given an antibiotic (Baytril). The vet told me to keep it washed out with soap and water. It still looks pretty awful and keeps filling up with pus, even though we wash it twice a day. Is it just too soon for it to be healing (4 days on antibiotics) or should I take him back to the vet? I should mention this ferret has a highly compromised immune system, due to having Lymphoma and being on Pred for over 4 years now. Is there more I can do to help him heal or do I just need to give it more time?

Thanks in advance.
Julie
