Tina,
First please accept our sympathy of yours and Jaspers loss! We
have lost three in just over a year, and the saddness is still there. The
first thing you may need to do is try to eliminate as much of Bria Anne's
scent as possible. The fact that it sounds as though she had the run of
the house, may make it near impossible, but you must try, as this will
only serve to drive Jasper crazy. When we lost our first, her closest
companion was looking for her everywhere, and we feared for her also,
because she took a emotional nose dive too. We spent a enormous
amount of
time with Pepper, just holding her and talking gently to her, and
basically tried to fill her emptiness. It took a couple of weeks before
she really started to perk up. We were also lucky that we have Spunky
(A.K.A. Psycho) as he is a little four legged tornado and he refused to
leave Pepper alone, to the point of almost getting the stuffing knocked
out of him from her. This too I believed helped her, and I might suggest
that if at all possible, you might try to find a kit that somewhat
resembles what Bria Anne looked like and see if Jasper might find the
need to mentor her. When we lost Molly, Rascal tried to tear the house
apart looking for her, he didn't realize she had passed on, and must
have
thought we had hidden her. We were able to buy two females from a
private
party, and the one being albino, and having just been bathed appealed
to
rascal's poor sight enough to make him think that Molly was back,
needless to say that this came as quite a surprise to both Sassy and us,
but they did become fast friends and Rascal is quite happy. Best wishes
for Jaspers emotional recovery, and your's too. Rick&Judy

Hi. I have searched some lists, including at Ferret Central, for ferret-kn=
owledgable vets in the Lake Placid, NY area, but would also prefer some per=
sonal input from folks on the lists. I will be in Lake Placid, NY next wee=
k (leaving Sun night-can't believe this slipped my mind till now) and bring=
ing the ferts, and would just like to know where to go if, God forbid, I sh=
ould need to bring a ferret to the vet. =

Please email me privately with suggestions: grape_apes@hotmail.com

Thanks!
