What Alicia said makes sense. Your ferret gritting it's teeth, can mean
intense pain. If it is happening when he eats, or right after, then there is
a chance that he has an ulcer which could be unrelated (or not) to whatever
condition has caused the results of your tests. He may have more than one
thing going on. That is always a possibility.
I hope a vet or an expert might contribute here, as I want to learn the
answer to your question. I venture to say that any sort of kidney disease
can cause the high proteins, but I could be very wrong.
