Completely normal. They (most often in our experience) are like that when a human has major surgery, too -- even to the point of being continuously obedient for weeks on end for whomever is not doing well (though not necessarily for anyone else) till the incision heals enough.
Now and then a ferret will not be so gentle after another's surgery, or will be too attentive.
One tricky thing is that sometimes they think that removing stitches will be helpful. We have had two like that. One would remove them on other ferrets and the other would leave the stitches of others alone, but her own stitches always had to be covered with surgical glue because she would remove them as soon as she could.
Post surgically climbing, jumping, etc. are big no-nos, of course. They can cause dangerous -- even fatal -- complications.
