IME, yes, it is. They really do know and they really do care.

The only problem will be when Onion is feeling a little better. Your
vet will likely not want him to wrestle, climb, or play in a
tremendously active way for about 10 days after surgery. Onion may be
feeling quite chipper in 2 or 3 days and Wish will know that too. Our
vet recommends keeping the ferts separated until the incision has had
time to heal.
