My 3 year old has gone into kidney failure. She has been treated for a live=
r infection and that seems to be have gotten better. The vet is giving me s=
ome hope by saying if it is acute, which it appears to be, then she can come=
back from it. Last Thursday her BUN was 71 (? about - way up there at leas=
t) and creatinine was something outrageous like 2.58. Her urine specific g=
ravity was very low as well which all led to the diagnosis. There was also =
blood in the urine and a very high number of keytones. I have been giving h=
er 25ml of SQ fluids twice a day and making sure she is eating/drinking. He=
r temperature last Thursday was 96.9. I got her temp up and since the treat=
ment at home started her temp stayed in the normal range. This morning it w=
as down to 95.9. I have her on a heating pad to get the temp up before I gi=
ve her fluids and food. Why is it going so low? Is this a bad sign? She is =
so lethargic all the time. It is so hard to see her like this. Is there any=
thing else I can be doing? Any special diet? When she feels well enough she=
eats her kibble on her own but when she is too lethargic I hand feed her c=
hicken baby food. The vet mentioned the possibility of some other disease w=
orking within her that we haven't found yet. Lymphocytes may have been seen=
in the blood - is this that enough to indicate lymphosarcoma? Any advice?
