Hi Everybody, (Dr. Williams could you please respond to this as well...)

Well, Bandit had his first seizure, from what we know anyway. It was pretty
scary, my husband found him limp and laying in front of the door- he was
unresponsive and my husband called me immediately. Fortunately we we're
prepared with Karo syrup in the house and I had read the procedure in case of
an insulinoma attack. Bandit came around slowly after apply the syrup to his
gums, the vet also suggested adding it to water and giving it to him with a
syringe. I'm just wondering if he has had seizures in the past that I did
not recognize, he often dazes out and shakes or bobs his head lightly- but
it's often for just a few seconds and then he seems okay again.
It's weird cause we just took him to the vet the night before because he's
been so lethargic and his breath is very fowl- so we had some bloodtests run.
His BG was about 61 and the blood work the doctor said looked fine, he did
say that the protein was a little on the high side. I'm waiting for a copy
of it in the mail so I can share it with Dr. Williams and get his feedback.
The vet said that his teeth weren't too bad and that the bad breath was
probably from all the gas and inflamation he has in his abdomen and that
would cause him to whimer too. Bandit has gotten so fat, he's 4.6 lbs and we
even have to clean his belly for him after he goes pee pee, I don't know how
he got so fat, the vet said it wasn't from the pred- when he did an
ultra-sound it was all fat in there. Anyway after the seizure the doctor
reccomended to increase the pred from .50 (2x a day) to .75 (2x a day) and to
give him some pepcid (2x) a day to help with the gas and make him more
comfortable.
It's only been a few days but his energy level seems better but he still
constantly chomps when waking up- it seems like his mouth is dry so I always
give him water...but I don't think it really helps.. what is causing this??

If anybody could offer me some advice or has a remedy that is working for
them with their ferrets , please let me know.

Thanks,

Christina
