I am an avid animal lover and rescuer of any animal that I find or see that=
may need help. I recently got a ferret from my boyfriends uncle. She was=
well cared for and loved very much, but they had a child that terrorized t=
he poor ferret. His Uncle thought of us where we have no kids of our own (=
Only our 3 beloved cats Skidgit, Bonnie, and Clyde). The thought of addin=
g another family member brightened my day. Rolo ( the sable female ferret =
with the cutest white knees and "bandit " mask) Quickly became adjusted to=
our house and other family members. The cats to her are just big playmate=
s. She's definetely got the life hanging out in her swing, or sleeping in =
the depths of her shoebox, but lately (within the past few weeks or so) I h=
ave noticed that she has a small loss of appetite and she's been coughing a=
nd hacking like shes choking on her food, but she's never eating when she d=
oes it. When we let her out of her cage to exercise she never coughs only =
when she is in her cage. I have a history with ferrets when I was small we=
always had at least 5 ferrets, my mom loved them. But the last few ferret=
s we had died of some(unknown at the time) disease. They all had hair loss=
, lethargy, coughing, hacking, and severe weight loss. So when Rolo started=
coughing I got a little worried. Could someone help me with my coughing d=
ilema. I am setting up an appointment for her, but I'd like to hear some f=
eedback from fellow ferret owners and some suggestions they might have. I =
live in Maine, and a vet that knows anything about ferrets is hard to come =
by around here. I'm just afraid that the vet may not be able to tell me an=
ything or that they may even misdiagnose my poor lil Rolo. If anyone has a=
ny suggestions or answers for me feel free to give any advice you may have.=

I appreciate any suggestions.

Thank You,
Megan =
