On or thereabout 3/9/03, Barbara Griswold spoke thusly:
>ugly poops for several months now. The poops are either seedy, runny
>green or they're greyish and mucousy with a formed poop every so often.

This sounds EXACTLY like how my boy Zan started out when we first got
him from the shelter. Then the following summer, he lost a lot of
weight and never gained it back... his problem turned out to be a
helicobacter infection causing an apparent case of inflammatory bowel
disease, and also eventually led to bleeding stomach ulcers. Poor boy
has been on and off antibiotics ever since... I'm still trying to get
weight back on him.

Dr. WIlliam's website was a goldmine of information for me... his
page on ulcers and helicobacter is here:
http://www.afip.org/ferrets/ulcers.html

His PDF download about Inflammatory Bowel Disease is here:

I wish I'd known all that sooner of course, because I would have had
Zan put on antibiotic treatment for the helicobacter infection a lot
sooner, and his ulcers never would have gotten as bad as they did.
IMNPO (in my non-professional opinion -- I'm certainly not a vet!)
take her in and talk to your vet... maybe you could try a run of
antibiotics first, and if that helps it was almost certainly
helicobacter. (If that's what it is, and my suggestions help, it
would almost cure my guilt at not getting Zan treated sooner... ;-)

If not, you could start changing foods to eliminate specific
ingredients to see if that works... I don't have any first-hand
experience with food allergies though.
