I never heard of a common dosage. Different vets have different opinions as to what is an effective dosage to start with. My vet uses 150 mcg, some use 100 mcg and at least one well known ferret vet recommends 500 mcg. You should probably ask your vet what dose Oscar is getting.

I think it really depends on the ferret and what's going on. For one of mine, 150 mcg worked wonders. For another, 150 mcg did nothing and after several months of no results, we doubled it to 300 mcg. That worked rather quickly and once symptoms were gone, we were able to maintain him with the 150 mcg dose.

Perhaps he's just not getting a sufficient dose and at the two week mark, it has degraded enough that it's no longer effective at that dosage. I'm not qualified to say whether or not Oscar can get it every two weeks, though I don't see why not. I have the feeling that just doubling the current monthly dose would have the same effect.
