I have a six and a half year old with insulinoma. She has been on pred for=
about a year now - about .2 ml a day. I have never increased the dose and =
if anything she only seems perkier when I skip doses now and then. At most =
for symptoms I only see the occasional glazed look but I have never seen se=
izures and the pawing at the mouth stopped long ago. She's never taken to d=
ecent ferret food - she nibbles on it as a snack but mostly eats Iams kitte=
n. At her age and in her condition I never tried to push her to the healthi=
er stuff. Oh, she also eats about a jar of chicken baby food a day. Lately =
she has taken to my cat's cheap cat food (my cat boycotts healthy stuff - r=
ight now my male ferret's favorite food seems to be the cat's science diet =
hairball food..hehe). Anyway, obviously this cheap cat food is very tasty b=
ecause my Keiko loves it and has the best appetite she has had since her di=
agnosis. How bad is this? Lately she's very active with a great appetite - =
this is what we all want out of our ferrets with insulinoma right? Should s=
he get supplements of some sort?

Question 2 - her hair is thinning along her back and tail in the way adrena=
l problem ferrets do. No other symptoms are present. Is it my imagination o=
r did I read somewhere that if the two diseases are present together they s=
omehow delay the onset of certain symptoms? It's just strange how the thinn=
ing fur started around the time that her peppiness and good appetite increa=
sed. =

Side note: thanks to everyone who sent the kind words to me when my Tika pa=
ssed last week :)
