We have found that ultrasounds not only are not good at spotting adrenal tumors but they can also result in having an adrenal that is fine incorrectly appear diseased. Then on surgery it will be fine. Yes, they can give correct results but the error rate in either direction isn't a comfy enough one for us.

It is not true that surgery is unneeded when two adrenals are diseased. It is still the best approach, but if they come out cleanly then the ferrets needs meds afterward (Flroinef and Pred, or Precorten and Pred) and our experience is that they thrive for years with such meds post-surgically.

Size is not the only factor in determining if an adrenal is diseased.
