Patty is right. Don't kick yourself. You're trying your best to help
Onion. There's no blame in that, and a whole lot to applaud. You
aren't a bad person - not by far.

Patty also pointed out that most vets have little ferret knowledge and
even less experience. Keep that in mind. The advice you're getting
here from Dr. Williams...it doesn't get much better than that. Now if
you can only find someone to perform the procedure he recommends...

Here's a tip for talking with those out of town vets: don't ask them
for their advice. Don't ask them what they recommend. They will not
answer you and will probably be less receptive after that. Their
liability is too great if they give you advice without examining Onion
themselves. Instead, just say that you are looking for someone to
treat Onion. Ask them if they have experience with ferrets and with
adrenal surgeries. Don't decide on any particular treatment on the
phone - just explain your situation, assess their experience, and make
an appointment for them to see Onion for themselves. You and they can
make decisions after that.
