I have a year old male ferret "Blackie" who was always on the heavy side since we first got him- his last vet appt was in July and weighted close to 3lb. we moved a month and a half ago and I have restricted there access to the whole house (to much trouble for them to find). Over the last few weeks I noticed Blackie losing weight and chalked it up to stress of the move - but now he is also shedding badly, there are no bald spots but his hair is now very soft and fine like when he was a kit. I have had 6 ferrets and had coat changes and shedding in the winter but nothing like this. I touch him and have a handful of hair. I have pet tinic (vit and minerals) that I had from another ferret that was ill and have been giving him that for 4 days now. Has anyone experienced this??
Also what is ECE - when I did a search for shedding this came up but didn't say what it was.
