It depends on the food, the size of the ferret, how much energy the
ferret uses in activity or in healing.

In drug stores there is a type of dropper sold which is called the
"Dr Clown Spoon Dropper". It has a wide opening and the accordion
pleat top gives better control (to avoid causing accidental
inhalation of food) than a plunger or squeeze top. A toy baby bottle
with the tip trimmed also often works well.

DO be sure to warm the soft food slurry. Warmed food has more odor
and is more appealing.

Be sure to not get upset yourself or that will panic the ferret;
speak gently or sing to the ferret and take your time getting the
food in.

**** Is he on Carafate if he has ulcers? There is an oral
preparation available from pretty much any pharmacy and it really
provides incredible levels of rapid comfort for many.*****

These should help:

Very often if a ferret can just be gotten to eat enough or to stay
hydrated a corner will be turned and the ferret will recover. Your
vet will have the best idea if that is possible.
