Subject: Vaccinating ADV+ Ferrets

I have heard from some people with ADV+ ferrets that their vets claim ferrets
who have ADV should not receive any vaccinations, especially any vaccinations
that are made with a modified live virus. One vet I greatly respect has even
told his clients that ferrets that are negative, but live with ADV+ ferrets
should not be vaccinated. The concern is that with the compromised immune
system, the ferrets that are ADV+ could actually develop the illness the
vaccination is supposed to prevent.
I was wondering what the vets on this list thought about this. I have
continued to vaccinate all of my ADV+ ferrets (and, of course, my negatives)
for the past 3 years against both distemper and rabies without problems. At
the same time, I do not want to take unnecessary risks with my ferrets. Any
thoughts on this would be appreciated.
